My Methods
I shoot in RAW mode.
Once I get home, I decide which ones are worth keeping, and process them in Photoshop:
I make adjustments to levels, colors, contrast, and saturation as needed.
I do any necessary touch-up (cloning out spots or contrast masking, for example) and save a copy as a TIFF file.
I create a version that's sized, sharpened, and framed for the web, and use Photoshop's Save for Web to save a copy of it as a JPG.
The framing tool I use is a set of Photoshop Actions (
AC's Flexible Frames
) that I sell at
www.shutterfreaks.com
, a photography site that you might enjoy visiting. There's also a
a version for Photoshop Elements
.
Site Creation
The initial site creation was done in raw HTML, first with NotePad and later with HomeSite, and I still use Homesite to create my new web pages. Some of the galleries were created using BreezeBrowser.
Maintaining my site was getting very time-consuming, so I knew I needed to find another way. Consequently, the bulk of my site is created using
Gallery
, a wonderful, server-side, PHP-based gallery program. It's freeware, and I highly recommend it. If you use it and like it, please send them a donation so they can continue their work.
